What kind of wedding do you offer?

We specialise in ‘rustic glam’ destination weddings in Puglia, in the south of Italy. We work specifically in the beautiful Fasano and Valle D’Itria areas of the region, which offer the rustic charm of the Italian countryside, a stone’s throw from some of the best beaches in the south of Italy.

How much will my wedding cost?

This depends primarily on the number of guests you wish to invite. If you’re planning a wedding with a smaller budget, there are a number of ways of making it happen.

Firstly, consider giving your day an intimate feel with a small number of guests.

You can also keep costs down by marrying in low season (October to February), or by taking simple steps like choosing local flowers and using social media to invite your guests. Plan your own hair and make-up, and be savvy while shopping for your dress and accessories.

Is Madama Wedding Planners a British company?

Yes, we are a limited company registered in England and Wales. You will always be able to phone a UK number to ask questions, or we can meet you in person in London.

Why should I employ a wedding planner for my wedding abroad?

Planning your wedding is a labour of love, and requires months of organising. Planning a wedding abroad can be tricky for a number of reasons, and in particular, the distances and language barriers involved can be challenging. If you’re already juggling a busy job and family life, planning a wedding abroad might feel like a daunting task, and the anxiety of not knowing what to expect until you get there can really spoil the months leading up to your big day.

A wedding planner can help you with all aspects of your wedding abroad, ensuring that its preparation is stress-free and that you always have someone to speak to if you have any questions, requests or worries.

A good wedding planner works closely with the couple and ensures their vision for their wedding becomes a reality on the day. At Madama we know Puglia well, and only work with reliable vendors and suppliers. We have known many of them for over ten years and we trust them to work to the standards required both by Madama and our clients.

We can take care of all the details for you. Our team of floral designers, chefs, professional photographers and wedding planner co-ordinators can make your wedding abroad a reality without the stress. We will be there for you from the moment you book, when you land in Italy, and right through to your special day, to ensure you and your guests have the time of your lives.

How early do I need to notify you of my preferred wedding date?

We normally ask couples to notify us nine months in advance. The paperwork to legally marry a couple in Italy can take time, and we want to make sure your special day is exactly as you want it. Booking early also means you may be able to get your desired venue at a better price. However, if you’re planning to get married in less than six months, please contact us directly, as we may still be able to help you.

What's the best time of year to get married in Italy?

We suggest you get married between April and October, avoiding July and August if possible.

July and August are the most popular months for Italian couples to get married, so venues are often booked years in advance for these months. July and August is also the hottest time of the year in southern Italy, with peaks of up to 40 degrees. The winter months in Italy can be very mild and, even in the middle of January, you can still have a wedding day in the southern Italian sun. This is also a cheaper alternative if you’re on a budget. It has recently become popular to get married on Valentine’s Day, offsetting the summer trend even for Italian couples.

Please note that we do charge extra for those who ask us to organise weddings in July and August.

Do I need to take out wedding insurance?

We strongly recommend you take out insurance, and we normally recommend couples add this as a ‘must have’ on their wedding planning list.

There are plenty of reputable companies who will insure your day for a reasonable amount of money. Please ask us for more information or assistance.

Will my civil wedding ceremony be legally recognised in the UK?

Yes, you have the same legal rights as you would if your ceremony had taken place in the UK.

How do I register my wedding in the UK?

We will provide you with a copy of your wedding certificate for registration in the United Kingdom.

Can I be married legally in an outdoor setting?

An Italian legal civil ceremony can be arranged only in the local town hall. However, we can organise a symbolic ceremony or blessing for your friends and family, and arrange a celebrant. You will have full control over the music and readings at the ceremony.

Do you provide an interpreter at the ceremony?

This is a legal requirement for Italian civil ceremonies, and we will arrange for an interpreter to be present at the ceremony. We will also provide you with a translator for all your documents, which will need to be translated in English.

In case of divorce of both or one of the parties, can a legal civil service take place?

Yes. However, under Italian law, a woman who has been divorced or widowed and wishes to re-marry in Italy cannot do so until 300 days have passed from the date of her divorce/death of her husband. There are also extra documents to be provided in order to fulfil all the legal requirements.

How many witnesses will we need?

The civil service requires two witnesses. If you are planning your wedding just for the two of you, we can arrange witnesses for you.

How many days in advance do I need to arrive in Italy in order to get married?

We require you to arrive in Italy at least three days in advance (not including the day you are travelling) in order to complete all the paperwork necessary. This will also give the bride and bridesmaid(s) the opportunity to have a hair and make-up trial, if one has been booked.

We can help you relax and settle in before the big day, with trips to the beach and traditional local restaurants.

How will I pay for the wedding?

Once you have confirmed with us that you wish to employ us as your wedding planning agent, we will require a deposit to guarantee our services. We will send you an email or letter every time a payment is due in order to secure venues, services and suppliers.

All payments are made to a UK bank by BACS in a number of tranches, depending on the budget.

Will you be able to ensure that those guests who arrive days early are entertained?

We work closely with local travel agencies and can arrange tours and excursions across Puglia. Please note that we are not a travel agent.

Also, some of our venues offers educational programmes on site. Learn about making olive oil, fresh pasta or make your own olive-oil based soap! Let us know if you’re interested and we will assist you.

I don’t have a clear idea of what I would like on the day, can you help me?

Yes, our floral designer and our wedding co-ordinators can make suggestions on style, colour, flowers and other details, according to the venue you have chosen.

We can provide you with pictures and ideas to inspire you, and take care of all the details for you. We specialise in rustic glam weddings – just ask and we’ll provide you with all the information and ideas you need.

Can you help me buy typical Italian gifts for the bridesmaids and those who have helped us?

Of course! Just let us know your budget and if you have any specific ideas in mind. We’ll give you a number of suggestions, and can buy the items for you in time for the day.

We only ever use your contact details for your specific enquiry and never sell them on
